New York, NY - Gregory Jacobs will soon be giving “Magic Mike” fans the chance to experience the franchise in a whole new way, as Producer of the Broadway-bound “Magic Mike the Musical”, which comes to Boston this fall.
Billed as a prequel to the hit 2012 film and its follow-up, “Magic Mike XXL,” which Jacobs directed, the musical will explore the early days of Channing Tatum’s titular character. Trip Cullman will direct the musical, and Tom Kitt and Brian Yorkey — both winners of Tonys and Pulitzers — will compose the score. Choreographer Camille A. Brown (“Once on This Island”) will provide the sizzling moves the “Magic Mike” dancers are known for. The producers are hopeful that the musical will make it to Broadway after the Boston run.
Jacobs produced the original film in addition to directing its' sequel. Additional credits include Creator/Executive Producer of the hit Amazon series "Red Oaks", Showrunner/Executive Producer of Steven Soderbergh's "The Knick" for Cinemax, and directing the recent "Dewey Ryder: Race Day" campaign for Mountain Dew and BBDO featuring Danny McBride and NASCAR legend Dale Earnhardt Jr.
